The defense industry has never had a shortage of good prototypes. What it has had, for decades, is a shortage of companies that can build good systems quickly, in volume and at a price the customer can afford to lose. That is the problem we think Anduril is actually solving.

The factory is the product

In March, Anduril began building its Fury autonomous aircraft at Arsenal-1, a roughly $1 billion campus south of Columbus, Ohio. Production started about three months ahead of schedule. The first building runs 22 stations of roughly equal workload. At three shifts, the line is designed for 150 aircraft a year, and the campus is planned to grow to seven buildings and about 4,000 jobs.

The design choices are the tell. Aluminum where a traditional contractor might use titanium. Composite methods borrowed from the boat industry. A commercial business-jet engine chosen because its supply chain already exists. Each one trades a little peak performance for a lot of producibility.

It's really about getting affordable mass to the war fighter as fast as possible.

Why that compounds

A prototype wins a contract once. A production line wins it again every year, because the customer's switching cost rises with every unit delivered and every technician trained. Anduril reported about $2.2 billion of revenue in 2025. The investment case from here is less about whether the technology works and more about whether the factories can keep pace with demand.
